Hi, I'm a long time visitor, first time poster. As I stated, I have a 99 Sportsman 500 with no spark. I rode it, parked it for 10 minutes, and tried to start with no luck. I did some basic troubleshooting and found out that there was no spark, not even a weak or single spark. So far, I've changed the plug, checked plug wire, checked all wiring .... Eaton rapids radar

New plug gapped to .0325. Because the engine doesn't run the battery isn't recharged as I try to start it. I externally charge the battery to between 12.6 & 13.0. I just ordered a new solenoid as it didn't ohm out 2.5 + or - 20%. Once that is installed (and works!!!!) I'll look at the no spark issue. Thanks for replying.. Good inexpensive 1911

Started when I took the carb off to figure out why it was leaking out the drain tube, turned out the float was half full of fuel, replaced, reinstalled carb, suddenly no spark. Checked the ETC, contacts were adjusted correctly ...RD/BL wire to coil, injectors and fuel pump drops from 12 volts to 0 when key on. I tested the RD/BL wire at the fuse panel and it shows 12 volts when key turned on then drops to 0. I switched relays and no change. Tested wiring at the fuse panel for the EFI relay. Orange wire, 12 volts at all times. GR/WH wire 12 volts with key on, RD/WH wire ...Replace your ignition switch and you'll be good to go.
